THE CHRONIC ILLNESS RESEARCH TEAM (CIRT) AT THE UNIVERSITY OF EAST
LONDON carries out
research into many different conditions and
illnesses that are not visible to anyone else, but cause the individual
pain and discomfort. We look at the ways in which the illness or
disease affects the lives of the people whso suffer from this wide range of conditions, including Irritable
Bowel Syndrome, Inflammatory
Bowel Disease, Epilepsy and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/ME. Our team includes people with these illnesses, and
therefore we understand the
problems faced by people with chronic illness. Our later work has focused on Ménière's Disease,
and we now wish to carry out studies on MdDS.
FORTHCOMING STUDIES ON MDDS:
1. Factors contributing to memory problems in people with MdDS (October to December)
2. Perceived stigma, illness intrusiveness, illness uncertainty and
quality of life in people with MdDS (October to December)
3. A qualitative investigation looking at the lived experience of
individuals with MdDS - this involves being interviewed.
(December/January)
If you are interested in participating in any of the studies above,
please contact our team at cirt@uel.ac.uk
